Out of necessity MAGNEE Strapless Magnetic Attaching Knee Pads where invented when construction professional Joe Pardillo and certifiable inventor John Picone came together to solve the problem of uncomfortable kneepad straps. Joe and John have been friends since high school and they have kept in touch ever since
Joe’s Story
Joe worked many years in construction and laying down tile for a living. Joe knew all about the discomfort and pain that goes along with wearing traditional kneepads with straps but he always wore them for safety and protection because there was nothing better.
One day Joe saw a co-worker laying down some tile and kneeling on a rubber mat. He told Joe that he could not use kneepads anymore because of poor circulation in his legs and he could not suffer the pain of straps anymore. The problem with the rubber mat was every time the co- worker had to move to lay down another tile he had to pick up the mat and move the mat with him. At that time, Joe thought wouldn’t it be nice if the rubber mat could stay with your body and move with you. But how? Joe figured it out. By using powerful rare earth magnets Knee Pads could be attached magnetically! Joe created “The World’s First Strapless Magnetic Attaching Kneepads.” During that time, Joe approached John with a prototype and the idea that would eliminate the need for uncomfortable straps on kneepads forever!
John's Story
John’s first success with his patented invention was winning the Grand Prize for an Invention Contest sponsored by Hammacher Schlemmer for the “World’s First Powered Adjustable Wrench” and sold his wrench through Hammacher Schlemmer’s catalog and stores under the brand name Picone “Durawrench”. The powered wrench features a motor and push-button that opens and closes the jaws for automatic adjustment and sizing. Other successes came with licensing his patents under the product name “Zipwrench” endorsed by Billy Mays and sold by Ontel Products and QVC. The latest spin-off the “Autowrench” manufactured by Black & Decker was sold in Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Ace Hardware, Walmart and all over the world.
“During my success’s many people approached me with many of their ideas but none seem to interest me.” “I remember the first time Joe showed me his prototype for his strapless kneepads. I thought it was very clever and useful and a great problem solver. I loved it. Joe and I partnered up, secured some patents and started a company.
